Breakfast In Bed? The Quilt is Finished and Sold!

This is the Final Chapter of the Breakfast-In-Bed saga.  Here she is, hanging next to other quilts, at the auction - all monies collected at the sale are used to join in Mission projects around the world. Such missions include Heifer, International, PET project, Church World Service, etc., etc.

This was a queen-sized quilt, and the pieces were TINY!

A friend of mine really admired the black, white and red quilt, at left.

Okay, Lori, Konnie, Soo and Bab...

...guess what.  I couldn't let go of this little quilt.

It now resides on a twin bed in our upstairs guest room!

Breakfast in Bed, did you say? Oh, yeah!

We did discuss favorite breakfast foods today while we were quilting.  There were four of us:  Konnie, Soo, Bab and me (SG).  Two of us like oatmeal (one makes it every day... while the other of us makes it only in the winter), one likes french toast, and one likes cheerios (every day!). 

NO ONE said they ate their breakfast in bed, though.   Do you??

We have Very Little left to do, so a couple or three of us may get together this Thursday to finish the hand quilting!!  (Do you suppose pricking our fingers more often might be a greater possibility?)  ;-)

Yet to do:
1) Remove those various items: needles, thimbles, spools of thread, scissors, etc. and the pins and tacks that hold the quilt on the frame.  Thus removing the quilt from the frame.
2) Sew the binding fabric around all the edges.  (Konnie, did you already volunteer to do this?)
3) Fold over and hand stitch the other side of the binding to the quilt. (Do you think four or five people could do this at the same time?)

Lori, we missed you today.  But we'll keep you posted!  (We need your expertise.)

We hope to have this on display in church over the weekend of October 25-26.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if it were completely finished??


NOW... to the matter of the pillow...   I do have several 9-patch blocks that were left over (don't ask why, we don't know!).  Wouldn't they be useful in making pillows for the five of us that have done the hand quilting??  :-)

June 2014! Breakfast In Bed... Hopefully "Prepared" by the end of October! :-)

Okay, friends and fans!  Here is further proof that we continue to hand-quilt.  And you might be interested you know that we have unrolled a bit from each side.  This will enable us to finish one end and roll it up to be able to continue in "uncharted territory!"  :-)

The Continuing Saga of "Breakfast in Bed!"

If you must know, we haven't seen a sign of toast, eggs, pancakes, waffles, oatmeal...  I think someone is pulling our legs!  ;-)  Actually, last Saturday morning I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast in Cedar Rapids, Iowa's IHOP.  We Could go OUT! 

At any rate, Konnie, Lori and I  had a fun couple of hours or so together yesterday - puzzling, "hashing"(no pun intended), and re-hashing the configuration and approaches to sewing this together.  Once we'd finished, we made good time sewing strips and large triangles.  There are only a couple more things to do, and we'll be ready to tackle the "sandwich" (sorry) and begin the process of hand-quilting!

 We think we're going to invite "the troups" at church that would like to participate in this final step!

We're planning our next get-together in a couple of weeks.  The goal?  Creating the red/white/green border.

Yes!  We believe we're bringing, for your enjoyment and edification, the Italian Version of "Breakfast in Bed!"  ;-)
Lori and I are back at it... we had a workshop last week and sewed a few blocks together.  Our next assignment, whenever we choose to accept it, is to create and add large triangles before we can join the strips!

Did You Say "Breakfast in Bed?"

Mother's Day will be here before long.

Flashback: Once upon a time, when my children were young, they told me to stay in bed. The brought me breakfast -- in bed, and they had made it all by themselves. What a great memory!

Hold that thought!

For now, Lori and I are going to attempt another "memory maker!" We're making "Breakfast in Bed!" But don't get too excited. As much as we'd love to serve you, that's not what we have in mind. :-)

This next quilt project is entitled "Breakfast in Bed!" So... if you want "Breakfast in Bed" by Lori and me, you'll have to attend the quilt auction at the Inservice designed to raise Mission money next Fall!!!

This is the progress so far... cutting strips and pieces.
